Your journey starts with a stunning dramatic drive over the Southern Alps via Arthurs Pass. As you climb into the mountains the scenery will have you stopping for photos of waterfalls, snow capped mountain tops and native bush. Keep an eye out for the cheeky kea bird! As you wind your way down from the mountains you turn off to take the scenic route via Moana Lake Brunner drive. Arriving at the Moana Village and the shores of Lake Brunner.
Lake Brunner, the largest lake on the West Coast and is a well known trout fishing spot by the locals. With a fascinating history of Maori tribes who once lived in the area. The formation of the lake is from an old glacier. A very warm lake, around 24 degrees in summer. This makes for a perfect place to spend the day enjoying water activities and walks in the area. The new bike trail is in development and will add another attraction to the area.
Lake Brunner Couples Escape offers two nights accommodation staying at Hotel Lake Brunner in a Qualmark rated 4 Lake View Studio Suite. Overlooking the lake the studio suites are comfortable and warm, with kitchen facilities and bathroom. Situated close to restaurants and bars and within walking distance to many of the lake walks and biking tracks.
Complimentary Continental Breakfast is served in the Hotel Kingfisher Restaurant dining room from 8.30am. Enjoy a selection of cereals, breads and spreads along with fruit, yoghurt, coffee and tea. During the week the restaurant is open from 11am for lunch and dinner and a full day breakfast menu is available.

The Historic Brunner Mine Site is a significant historical site, one of the country’s earliest industrial sites where coal was mined, coke, firebricks and other products were manufactured from the 1860s until the 1940s. Well interpreted with a short walk around the historic coke ovens, brick factory and the remains of tunnel entrances.
Enjoy lunch at Monteith’s Brewery A selection of West Coast produce and the West Coast’s very own Monteith’s Beer range around one hour spent here before being picked up for your afternoon adventure.
Punakaiki Blow Holes & Pancake Rocks is one of the West Coast highlights. Dramatically landscaped by the roaring ocean and strong winds over century’s creating a pancake rock formation with ocean swells pushing up through the blow holes created in between the rock formations. This loop walk has a multiple look outs to view the carved out sculptures within the rocks and the large surge pool. As you wind your way down and around the steps and path you make your way back up to the car park then head off to the Truman Track, a short walk through bush and bird life with great view and if the tides are right and time allows entry onto a beach and rock pools.
What a day! You now sit back and relax as our tour guide takes you back to your hotel.
