Reefton Heritage & Distillery Tour – History, Heritage & Gin
Step back in time and discover the rich stories of the Grey Valley on our Reefton Explorer Tour.
Departing from Hotel Lake Brunner at 12.30pm. A relaxed afternoon adventure runs for approximately five hours, taking you through one of the West Coast’s most fascinating historic corridors. Travelling north through the Grey Valley, your guide will share local stories and stop at key points of interest that shaped the region’s mining and pioneering past. (Can depart from Greymouth at 12pm)
Arriving in Reefton, New Zealand’s first town to receive electricity, you’ll enjoy time to explore at an easy pace. Stretch your legs on a short heritage loop walk through the township. Admire the beautifully preserved historic buildings, and soak up the character of this charming gold rush settlement.
Call into the visitor centre and enjoy their offerings, on to a bush walk and the the Black Points Museum.
The highlight for many is a guided tasting experience at Reefton Distilling Co., home of the award-winning Little Biddy Gin. Learn about the botanicals inspired by the surrounding rainforest and enjoy a crafted gin tasting to finish your time in town.
Returning to Moana, we travel along the scenic Atarau Road on the opposite side of the Grey River. A meaningful stop at the Pike River Mine Memorial to reflect and pay respects.
A perfect blend of history, scenery, and flavour — this is the West Coast at its finest.
