About Our Tours!

Our small group tours consist of no more then 12 people and are designed to be interactive and family friendly. Lots of photo opportunities and local stories from our local West Coast knowledgeable guides. We have both half and full day tours available and all of which can be booked online or by calling our team direct.

What amazing tours! We did two half day tours to Pancake Rocks one afternoon and the next morning to Hokatika Gorge and the  Treetop Walkway. Explore West Coast, and especially Linda,  took excellent care of us both days, showing us beautiful scenery in Greymouth and on the way to Pancake Rocks as well as at the Rocks.  The next day we loved our trip to Hokatiki Gorge and the Treetop Walk. The van is clean and comfortable, Linda had water and umbrellas (which we luckily didn’t need) and she picked us up at our hotel. Great service. Linda is fabulous and so knowledgeable of local history and the local animals and plants - we learned a lot and had fun doing it. We really enjoyed spending time with her and she’s an excellent guide. The van is comfortable and the half day tour is well planned and even better than the description. My wife and I had a great experience with Explore West Coast. We were picked up at Greymouth by our wonderful host and driver Bob who was very knowledgeable and a passionate Kiwi….we had two fun days out with Bob before he returned us to the Greymouth train station for our return to Christchurch. My wife and I booked the full day South Island tour through the i-SITE office upon arrival in Greymouth. They arranged a tour with Explore West Coast and with a guide named Paul for the next day. Paul promptly picked us up (and dropped us off) right at our hotel. We may have lucked out because it was just my wife and I in the tour van that could accommodate maybe 8 total people. We did the stops listed on the itinerary and also stops that weren’t including several lakes along the way. Throughout the tour we enjoyed a friendly and personable conversation with Paul that felt more like we were having a chat with a family member we hadn’t seen in awhile. Paul had great knowledge of the areas we stopped in, Māori culture/history, and conservation activities happening. We enjoyed conversation about New Zealand and comparing the similarities and differences from the USA. We never felt rushed at any of the stops along the way (even panned for gold at a stop) and although the tour was a full day long we wished for more time with Paul. Highly recommend booking a tour with Explore West Coast and I’m sure they have other wonderful guides but see if Paul is available for your trip. Highly recommend Explore West Coast Tour Cannot speak highly enough about our guide Linda. Her knowledge of not only the sites we visited but NZ in general was exceptional. The Tour had a great mixture of visiting tourist venues, driving time and relaxing time to enjoy each venue. Gorgeous coastal views and Linda is the best! Linda was the best tour guide I’ve ever had! Informative and fun information from the moment you’re picked up. Multiple stops at scenic spots. Accompanies and informs the entire pancakes rocks walk. So kind and interesting. Hilarious tidbits. You also stop for free fancy canapés and drinks at a beautiful beach hotel on the deck. So fabulous! I would take this tour again just to hang out with Linda! Pickup and drop off were a dream. Blowholes at their best! Linda was great! Knowledgeable, friendly and funny. Also very informative about the gold/coal mining and history of Greymouth. She knew all about the flora & forna as we drove around the stunning coastline. The sun came out and she said the blowholes were at their best!! Our pics are like postcards and WE WERE THERE!
